Landscape and the natural world provide the ideas and impetus for my work.
Using photography and drawing, these reflections then develop further
through the processes of painting and sculpture.
Starting from something concrete and 'real', they quickly take on their own life,
drawing in ideas from other sources and experiences.
The magic happens for me when the works begin to direct themselves.
The resulting works are a response to the original source but, in equal measure,
to the very processes used to bring them to life :
mark-making (two and three dimensional), colour and
the development of abstract composition.
I will often be astonished by images and forms that emerge,
only to find them in the landscape some time later.
I obtained a Degree in Fine Art (Painting and Printmaking) at Norwich School of Art, England, have worked in the visual and performing arts in the UK and Africa,
and am now involved in the artistic life of a very beautiful part of France,
where I now live and work.
